A while back, Jonathan Meadows from Kore-Net.com and 'LinuxGod.net' setup a website called sorbs.us (I won't link to it from here 'cause its hate filled, homophobic, and just downright disgusting at this point - IE a complete joke of a website that he should be embarassed about).

First, he got caught violating copyrights and trademarks by using the SORBS images without prior permission. A very long and complicated usenet article thread ensued, with Jonathan Meadows throwing insults and attacks, especially after being called out on his bad faith registration of sorbs.us and the use of Matthew's images.

In July of 2006, he made numerous bogus and off-topic edits to Wikipedia, including vandalizing the AHBL article.

Since then, the sorbs.us site has undergone multiple revisions, most of which have hate filled homophobic comments directed at myself, especially after I revealed to everyone that I am Transgender.

I called Jonathan Meadows out on this, asking him to explain why he calls me a traitor and transvestite. As well as pointing out to him why calling the AHBL or SORBS illegal was flat out incorrect and clueless.

The result, was a lovely response, of which I'll share this particular part:

Yes, the supposed 'professional' systems administrator of kore-net.com and linuxgod.net is a rabid homophobic individual who has no problems attacking others based on who they have chosen to love. He has also chosen to attack transgendered individuals for who they are, solely because they were born into a body which does not fit who they are inside.

Isn't it so nice how he shared his views with us all, so we can see the real Jonathan Meadows.

An enlightening piece on the death of Jerry Falwell

Alan Wolfe in Salon.com wrote yesterday a rather interesting and very enlightening piece on the death of hate monger and religious fanatic Jerry Falwell.

I personally hated the man - he embodied everything that makes the rest of the world hate this country. He blamed the victims of 9/11 for the attacks. I can't even describe how much this man disgusted me.

In the responses/blogs/letters to the editors section of the article, there were some rather good quotes:

It is widely reported that Falwell apologized for what he said, but in reality he did no such thing. Instead, he opted for a technicality: the gays, lesbians and feminists weren't personally responsible, but God lifted his protective shield over America and allowed the attacks of 9/11 because of their, and others', immorality.

I'm saddened by Falwell's death precisely because it did not spark such a response in me. My initial reaction was good riddance. It's truly a shame that Falwell's life was so reprehensible and divisive that his death commands so little empathy.

Falwell represented, in simple terms, the very worst aspects of being both an American and being a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. As an American, he perpetuated the racist, sexist, heterosexist heritage that is still deeply woven through much of this land of ours. As a Christian, he took the easy road- preaching a message of intolerance, damnation- fire and brimstone as it used to be called.

The desperation and immaturity of Jonathan Meadows

So, for the past week or so I've got a new obsessive kook pestering me and the AHBL. Jonathan Meadows of KORE Inc (aka kore-net.com, linuxgod.net, sorbs.us, and possibly others) is hellbent of proving just how immature and lame he is.

The mess started with Matthew of SORBS called out Jonathan for violating copyright on images used on his revenge site, sorbs.us. It gradually escilated from there, and we ended up listing him under the AHBL's SOS rules for his behavior towards SORBS.

It took only a few days before he decided to go all out kooky. You can follow the saga on Usenet here. He's also decided to associate himself with the Not-So-FreeSpeechStore.

Oh, and Jonathan, nice try, blocking my IP from viewing your site. CoralCache and AOL web proxies are such great tools.

Religious Ads: A New Low

Ok, so I'm going to give my standard warning for anyone who wants to read this article:

If you are a highly religious individual who can not take criticism or accept the fact that you may be stepping over the line in your fight to destroy evolution in favor of your Intellegent Design theory (which by the way, as never been proven or backed in scientific facts), you should not read this post. Also, if you are a republican, reading my blog in general may piss you off.

Now, with the standard disclaimer out of the way, lets get to the meat of this article.

I woke up this morning and found that my blog ads had been infested with Intellegent Design (aka: creationism) advertisements - pewforum.org, 1cosmos.org, creationdesign.org, and others.

Now, for those of you who missed my previous post on Intellegent Design, or just don't know what it is in general, its considered junk science by most of the Scientific community. Basically, its a new spin on the old idea that God created everything and anything - but without actually using the word 'god'.

So, let me pose this question to the people who are putting up these ads:

Why, if your theory is so sound, solid, and unrefutable, why do you feel it necessary to boost your views by advertising on Google?

You don't see advertisements trying to shove evolution down people's throats (perhaps because evolution is an accepted theory that is based in fact rather then the bible...). Is this just more desperation? Rather then trying to prove Intellegent Design with actual facts, use a crow bar to ram it down on people while completely dancing around the truth?

No offense to the people who read this and believe in Intellegent Design or Creationisim - but come on. Can we please grow up?

Why are kooks so psychotic in their behavior?

I'm left wondering at times how some of the kooks became so psychotic in their behavior and tactics.

Lets take the mindless rantings of Barara Schwarz as an example. She has spent the past 9 months or so going on and on about myself and others on Usenet that she does not like. She claims to be a Scientologist, but was kicked out of the church in 1984. She's been arrested for trying to tresspass into the White House, and twice sent to a mental hospital here in the US. She claims that Nazis are out to get her, implanting earplants in people's ears (and this earning her the name Spongebarb Earplants). She's also known as a FOIA terrorist for her excessive and pointless FOIA requests.

The UEN network refuses to deal with her, expecting the library to handle her (which the library has not done, and probably will not do).

The other major nutjob that shows off psychotic behavior is Richard Scoville of the FreeSpeechStore. More recently he has teamed up with Babs to spam Usenet for his pay-per-libel extortion site. He likes to forge logs, file false police reports, harass stock holders in the companies he doesn't like, and much much more.

Lately, he has been attacking Marc Wigle in Canada. He's filed false police reports, harassed local schools, police departments, media outlets, and more in Marc's area in an effort to cause pain for his wife and kids.

Why do they attack others the way they do? Could it be because they may get some sick perverse sexual pleasure at hurting other people? Or maybe they just have such low self esteem that it helps them feel like their lives are worth living?

Who knows.

More rants about the religious right and hate crimes

I've been watching various things unfold over the past few months in regards to the increasing attacks and intolerance against the GLBT community by the far right religious fanatics and fundamentalists.

It disgusts me highly to see how casually these people attack and cause hate, then use the bible as their shield. I remember back in 2001 right after the WTC attack, Jerry Falwell and his right wing fundamentalists blamed the attacks on the GLBT community, feminists, ACLU, etc (for those interested in more about Falwell, Rotten.com has a bio here).

Matthew Shepard's death was justified by the fanatics and killers as being dictated or required by the bible.

More recently, we have the case of Gwen Araujo, having been killed by several individuals because of who she was.

So, here in 2005 we have new laws that are being written to try and protect members of the GLBT community - however, there are a large enough group of people blocking these efforts, in an obvious attempt to make sure their future hatred and attacks against others won't be considered hate crimes (and thus face longer jail time/punishments then otherwise).

People need to stop using their religion as a way to justify attacks, killing, and hate. It's too bad most of the people who claim to be Christians or similar don't bother to actually follow some of the things the bible says. Following it only when convenient seems to be popular these days.

Part 2: The DollarTrader Debacle

Why am I doing a followup post to DollarTrader vs. Matt from SORBS?

Well, because I feel like it.

So, its time to do my most favorite game - break down and blow apart a spammer's claim!

William claims to have lost 6.5 million dollars because of the SORBS listing of his IP address. Some of you are probably wondering what that wild laughing coming from my post is right now - well, thats me trying to compose myself after reading the above link.

But, back to the point...

1. Why is a company that supposedly is making 6.5 million USD in a day hosting their website on a shared web server without their own dedicated IP address? Shouldn't they have an IT department, dedicated servers either in their facility or a co-loc place?

2. He claims to have lost 40 someodd customers because of this - shouldn't a company that makes 6.5 million USD a day have other means of contacting their customers then just e-mail?

3. Why is a company that supposedly is making 6.5 million USD a day letting their 'CEO' make legal threats? Multi-million dollar companies usually have a whole team of highly paid lawyers to make legal threats.

delayed/refused.... I figure 2 things...

1/ It has to be a mighty big trade to loose $6.5m on one delayed sell
2/ knowing the reliability of email to base a $6.5m time sensitive

Of course it was also funny that baing a $31b cap company (so say he) he
was phoning me and not his legal team.

We use the services of a professional e-marketing company to delivery our mail and we pay for this service - our message delivery is not processed for free.

I ask you again to retract your allegation. This includes a retraction posted to the SPAM-L network. If on this occasion you still insist that our company is in the business of sending spam, I will have no choice other than instructing our solicitors to start proceedings against you.
